No longer can companies justify duplicative security spending, especially since newer physical security products are heavily IP based. Regulatory compliance demands a focus on both facility and data security. And, sophisticated security breaches like those at Hannaford’s, Heartland Payment Systems and TJ Maxx show that the criminal element is growing up, fast. The government put a stake in the ground five years ago via HSPD-12; since then, our tax dollars have subsidized plenty of convergence R&D, and it’s time to take advantage.
